Tips from Mardelle

FYI for December from Mardelle
Enjoy!

This is a really cool tool! You can save a lot of paint using this virtual paint mixing FREE site. Just pick the colors and % of each and it creates your mixture. You may want to try it before you mix a pile of color you don't like and can't use! You can also make a catalog of mixtures that you might want to use again and may not recall, etc., etc. It is based on Golden brand colors but I think it would be very close in oil or watercolor.

Congrats Aileen!

This message comes from Vanguard member, Aileen Garvey:

At the October meeting of the Arizona Artist Guild I was named artist of the month with my small 12x12 painting of a beautiful white swan resting in the shadows of the trees at the wild life zoo.

For those who are not AAG members this is an honor, indeed, since the level of art is usually very high for Artist of the Month. So, congratulations Aileen!

Vanguard Garage Sale

For all of you who are cleaning and organizing your painting spaces and studios, please note that I have created a space to do that here on the blog. The Vanguard Garage Sale box is at the bottom of the right sidebar.

As you wish to offer any of your art items for sale, please send me an e-mail with all the details...sizes, colors, quantities, prices, etc. and I will put them on the blog. Please note that I will not be posting your phone number since I don't think that is an appropriate idea for this online forum; but members will have their rosters and can contact you in that way if interested.

Front Porch Festival

As mentioned during yesterday's meeting of the Vanguard Artists, Kristi Herring gives more specific information here:

Front Porch Festival
Oct. 20th
At “The Open Door Too”

Come join the fun with Kristi Herring, Mardelle Driscoll,
and Mark Ward (Kristi’s son).  Kristi will be demonstrating watercolor, (with a whimsical style) on bookmarks or small cards.
Donations will go to PAW Love, an organization helping abused and neglected animals.

The Entertainment will feature Mardelle Driscoll on Cello.  Her talents never stop, she also might be seen with a paint brush in her hand helping Kristi.

Direct from California is “Mark Ward”, with his wonderful songs and guitar work from yester-years.  Standards you’ll want to sing along with him.

So come join the fun Oct. 20th, 7142 N. 58th Dr. Glendale, AZ. (Catlin Court shops).  You’ll be helping by picking up a card or bookmark, for some very needy animals.

Sorry for the delay in reporting on the reception. WHAM hosted a lovely reception and we toured the artwork that is displayed throughout this large facility. One painting was sold at the reception!

Here, we have Vanguard members Sharon King and myself, together with two of our artist buddies standing near my Magnolia Plantation painting.

Nan Adams announces that she sold a painting at the Professional Building. It was her "Bashful Rose" watercolor painting. She replaced the sold painting with another of her wonderful florals, "Golden Engelmann's Blossom".

Congrats to you, Nan, and thanks for letting us know as we can share in your success vicariously!
