Twice a year when openings are available artists may apply to be juried into Vanguard Artists.  It is with great pleasure we announce that the following artists have applied, been accepted via a jurying process and are now our newest members.  We look forward to sharing some of their work with you in the near future.  In the meantime, we give a warm welcome to - Lynda Burruss, Melva Hull, Rhonda Homme, Tim Janicki, Tanya Lemma, Lyn Linder, Peggy Juneau and Lauralee Stenzel.

Surprise City Hall Art Show Winners!

Once again Vanguard Artists have a successful art show. This exhibition will be hanging until April 26th at Surprise City Hall, 16000 N Civic Center Place in Surprise, Arizona.  The gallery space is on the ground floor of City Hall and is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.  With 75 art pieces this show is one of the largest in the Valley this season.  This exhibition features the best of Vanguard Artists.

Our 40 years of Excellence show was a resounding success with many patrons visiting the gallery at WHAM in Surprise.  Many, many votes were cast and the winner of for the "People Choice" went to Donna Davis for her stunning acrylic painting "Araya Collecting Shells"

WVAC 6th Annual Floral and Botanical Exhibit

West Valley Arts Council's 6th Annual Floral and Botanical Exhibit will be on-display from March 9-April 21, 2017 . Light refreshments will be served.  Many Vanguard artist's works will be shown including Linda Lee Gimby's 'Queen of the Garden" and "Pansy Power" and Marion Wishnefski's "Autumn Leaves."  Be sure to stop by this beautiful exhibit!

Vanguard Spring Challenge

Diane Freeman shared the following about the Vanguard Spring Challenge, 2014:

The meeting last week included our Spring Challenge which was to do a painting
of any medium, any size, but you could only use green, orange, purple and white.
Seventeen of our members rose to the challenge and brought in wonderful pieces
that really showcased how much you can do with a limited palette of secondary
colors. Each painting was identified only by a number so no one knew who did
which painting. All members present had a ballot where they could vote for
their favorite painting. Arizona Art Supply gift cards were presented to the
top three.

And the winners are:

Mary Lou Harvey Award

Pam Bleakney shared the name of the winner of the Mary Lou Harvey Award through AAG:  Thad Trubakoff, MSA Woods ASU. His work can be seen here.

This Thursday, March 13th, Birt's Bistro in Surprise, AZ is having an artist's reception to kick off my "Solo Art Exhibition" in their cafe at the Benevilla Complex from 5pm to 7pm. I will be there meeting and greeting and I do hope you can drop by and see my paintings. Birt's is at 16752 Greasewood Street, Surprise, AZ 85374. Hors d' oeuvres will be served and beverages are available for purchase.

Jurying for New Members

We are pleased to announce that we will be jurying in new members on the 29th of
March (yes, at the end of this month).

If there is someone that you would like to sponsor for membership in to
Vanguard, contact President, Louise Carroll or Vice President, Diane Freeman. 
We will send you a form for them to fill out, and further instructions on where
the three paintings are to be delivered and at what time on Sunday, the 29th of
March.

Successful applicants will become members and be introduced at the April
Vanguard meeting.

The jury process will take place again in November.

Palo Verde Fine Arts Association

The Palo Verde Art Club announces an art show and sale on Friday and Saturday, March 28th and 29th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This will be at the Sundial Rec Center, 103rd Ave and Boswell.

Westbrook Village Fine Arts Association Show

This Announcement is from Vanguard member, Barb Hurley-Peterson regarding an
upcoming event.  This weather will be gorgeous, so get out and enjoy the show.

The Westbrook Village Fine Arts Association will be having its annual Fine Arts
Show & Sale on Saturday, March 15 (10-5PM) and Sunday, March 16 (10-3PM).

Over 125 pieces of beautiful art (paintings, glass & pottery) will be on
display/for sale that was created by talented residents of Westbrook Village. 
Vanguard member Barb Hurley Peterson will have 5 original art pieces in this
show.

Come see this judged show located in the Fine Arts Learning Center
building,18827 N. Country Club Drive (a few blocks north of Union Hills & one
block west of 83rd Avenue).  Admission and parking is free.  Light refreshments
will be served.
